Flora Irene Lowe
October 24, 1922 - January 20, 2012
Mrs. Flora Irene Comerford Lowe passed away Friday, January 20, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Cairo, Georgia. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2012, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Bainbridge, Georgia. The Rev. David Grubbs and the Rev. Charles Taylor will officiate. The interment will be held in Oak City Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Irene was born October 24, 1922 in Blountstown, Florida to James Edward Comerford and Cora Thompson Comerford. She married Dick Lowe; who preceded her in death. Mrs. Lowe lived most of her life in Bainbridge. She worked as a meat cutter. Irene worked many years at Nicholson’s IGA in Bainbridge. After retirement, she worked at B & H Country Market in Cairo. She was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bainbridge.
Flora Irene Lowe is survived by her daughter, Wanda Bearden of Cairo; grandchildren, Amy Hill and husband, Jason of Cairo, Brian Smith and wife, Karen of Gallatin, Tennessee, and Joni Quinlan and husband, Brian of Gainesville, Georgia; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and nine siblings.

Mr. Jerry Lee Harrison, Sr. passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at his home in Climax, Georgia. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Stanley Phillips and the Rev. David Grubbs will officiate. Interment will follow in Harrison Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Cox Funeral Home.
Jerry Lee Harrison was born July 17, 1949, in Climax, Georgia to James Samuel Harrison, Sr. and Reba Byrd Harrison. Jerry was married to Joyce Musgrove Harrison. He was a retired farmer. Jerry loved outdoor sports. He fished, hunted, played golf, everything outdoors, and was good at everything he tried. He was a member of the Tri-county and Mizell Hunting Clubs and the Bainbridge County Club.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Joyce Musgrove Harrison; mother, Reba Byrd Harrison; children, Lisa and husband, Andy Jones of Whigham, Georgia, Lynn and husband, Craig Phillips of Climax, Sheri and husband, Anthony Glisson of Bainbridge, and Jerry Lee Harrison, Jr. of Climax; brothers, Danny A. and wife, Irene Harrison, and James W. Harrison, both of Climax; grandchildren, Taylor and Conner Harrison of Bainbridge, Morgan and Kasey Phillips of Climax, and Lee Glisson of Bainbridge; and very good friends, Johnny Moore, Carl Bennett, and Charles Kelly. He was preceded in death by his father, James Samuel Harrison, Sr. and brother, James S. (Buckshot) Harrison, Jr.

Rosalind Elizabeth Leng Palmer
October 13, 1917 - January 10, 2012
Rosalind Elizabeth Leng Palmer, 94, passed peacefully January 10, 2012, with loving care at Avante of Jacksonville Beach Nursing and Rehab Center.
Beloved wife of the late Eugene C. Palmer, she was born in Newport, Wales on October 13, 1917. Daughter of the late Herbert & Julia Dennis Leng, she was also predeceased by brothers Philip and Roy Leng and sister Lillian L. Lyden.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, an avid boater, fisherman, talented knitter and creative flower arranger. She was a resident of Stuart, Florida for 35 years until moving to Jacksonville Beach in 2009.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Richardson (Tom) of Jacksonville Beach, granddaughters Kate Richardson of Jacksonville and Sara Allen (Scott) of Jacksonville Beach and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Palmer will be held 2pm Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery, Bainbridge, Georgia with Rev. Bruce McCracken officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church, 104 Pine Forest Road, Bainbridge, GA 39819

Mr. Lee Monroe Hamilton, Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy (Retired), passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at his home in Climax, Georgia. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Climax United Methodist Church in Climax, Georgia. Rev. Wayne McDonald will be officiating. Interment will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery with full military honors and Masonic graveside rites given by Orion Lodge #8 F&AM . The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m., in the church Fellowship Hall.
Lee Monroe Hamilton was born January 5, 1917 in Dade City, Florida to Lee Monroe Hamilton and Matilda Gleaton Hamilton. May 5, 1943, in Miami, he married his sweetheart, Pearle Knight Hamilton. They shared 68 years of life together. There were so many adventures, so much happiness. The University of Florida graduate served proudly in the United States Navy for 24 years. After his retirement, he taught high school chemistry in Rome Georgia for 20 years. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the United Methodist Church of Climax and the Methodist Men’s group. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 127 in Clearwater, Florida; having served as a past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Chemical Engineers Society.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife, Pearle Knight Hamilton of Climax; son and daughter in law, Kenneth Knight Hamilton and Melissa of Rome, Georgia; brother, Wallace Hamilton of Dowling Park, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Anne O’Hara Wells passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Grady General Hospital in Cairo. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Anne was born October 4, 1918 in West Point, Georgia, to Barney Maston O’Hara and Kate Ragsdale O’Hara. She married Ross Jackson Wells. They were married over 50 years before his death in 1997.
Anne O’Hara Wells is survived by her children, Melodee (JoDee) Henry and husband, Buster, of Quincy, Florida, Barbara Dukes and Billy Wells, both of Bainbridge, Georgia; 7 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; 7 great- great- grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Judy Austin.

Ms. Donna Jean Kamp passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011, at her home in Bainbridge, Georgia. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2011, at the Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Bainbridge. Pastor Ken Davidson will be officiating.
Donna Jean Kamp was born January 14, 1935 in Grand Haven, Michigan, to Marvin Kamp and Genevieve Baldus Kamp. She worked as a nurse’s aide. Donna attended the Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church. When she was able, she enjoyed attending the Sr. Citizens’ Center in Bainbridge. Donna loved flowers, music and dancing. She just celebrated life. She enjoyed crocheting and never met a stranger. Donna used her nursing skills by caring for her neighbors and friends.
Donna Jean Kamp is survived by her children, Mark Gilmore and wife, Carol, of Elizabeth City. North Carolina, Melody Brown and husband, Robert, of Dayton Beach, Florida, Martha Gilmore of Debary, Florida, Mike Gilmore of Fredrick, Maryland, and Melinda Gilmore of San Antonio, Texas, Demetria English and husband, Johnny, of Bainbridge; brothers, Marvin Kamp and wife, Sylvia, of Tampa, Florida, Richard Kamp and wife, Karen, of Clarkesville, Arkansas, Bruce Kamp and wife, Pam, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Michael Gilmore, David Gilmore, Kenny Gilmore, Kristy Sanders, Alex Moran, Lisa Ochoa, Chontell English, and Victoria Jackson; and great grandchildren: Cory Moran, Lee Miles, and Elizabeth Moran. Gillis Rogers was born August 28, 1933 in Tattnall County, Georgia. His parents were Tom Rogers and Willie Driggers Rogers. He was married to Earnestine Hiers Rogers, who preceded him in death. Gillis served in the U S. Army. He was a very talented upholsterer. Mr. Rogers was a member of the First United Methodist Church. His family remembers him as a good father and good provider. He took care of the family he loved. His other love was fishing.
Gillis Rogers is survived by his daughter, Willene Patrick of Bainbridge, Georgia; sisters, Joanne Crites of Okeechobee, Florida and Earlene Paras of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren, David Roger Patrick, Virginia Daniell Alday, and Tommy Morgan Rogers, Jr., all of Bainbridge. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife;son, Tommy Morgan Rogers, Sr.; brothers, L. J. Rogers, Norman Rogers, Aldean Rogers, Alfred Rogers; and sisters, Lola Winning, and Lee Carlson.

Lyn Rigdon Coleman passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at her home. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, at Faith Christian Center in Cairo. Pastor Doug McGhee will be officiating. Interment will be in Cairo Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 29, 2011, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Faith Christian Center.
Lyn Rigdon Coleman was born September 1, 1962 in Perry, Georgia. Her parents are Allen Rigdon and Lana Hortman Rigdon. In 1983, she graduated from Abraham Baldwin College, earning an Associate Degree in Child and Family Development. An employee of the Grady County Board of Education, Lyn worked as a para-professional in the library at Eastside Elementary School. She loved to read, especially her Bible. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Lyn is survived by her husband, David Coleman, Sr.; children: David Coleman, Jr., Daniel Coleman, Laura Coleman, and Kellie Coleman, all of Cairo, Georgia; her parents: Allen and Lana Hortman Rigdon of Waycross, Georgia; father and mother in-law: Clyde and Reba Coleman, Sr. of Cairo; brother: Edward Rigdon of Oregon; grandmother: Edith Allen Rigdon of Waycross; aunts and uncles: Sarah and Farrell McClelland of Waycross, Bruce and Gloria Hortman of Roberta, Georgia, and Wilson Hortman of Warner Robbins, Georgia; brother and sister in laws: Gale and Phyllis Coleman of Athens, Georgia, Gary and Kathy Coleman of Toccoa, Georgia, Greg and Deborah Coleman of Snellville, Georgia, Clyde and Renee Coleman, Jr. of Whigham, Georgia, and Marsha and Dave Sturm of Chattanooga, Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all who were loved very much by Lyn. Willie Floyd Cox, Jr. was born April 7, 1945, in Mitchell County, Georgia, to Willie Floyd Cox, Sr. and Stella Singleton Cox. He was a graduate of Hopeful High School. Floyd retired from Pepsi Bottling Group; after working for many years as a warehouse manager. He was presently employed at Mitchell Builders. Mr. Cox was a member of Thompson Free Will Baptist Church. Floyd loved to fish and was an avid gardener. He was a dedicated SEC football fan. He was so very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; loving them with all his heart.

Mr. Russell Bowen, age 86, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011, at his home in Decatur County, Georgia. Graveside services will be held Sunday December 18, 2011, 2:30 p.m., at Oak City Cemetery, with Rev. Kent Barwick, officiating. The family will be serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 18,2011, from 1:30- 2:30 at Cox Funeral Home. Mr. Bowen was born October 4, 1925 to Russell Hall Bowen Sr. and Florence Torbert Bowen. He was married to the late Deloris Tipton Bowen. Russell served in the United States Navy and served in World War 2. He was a watchmaker by trade. Russell enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and looking at wildlife. Mr.Bowen was of the Methodist faith and a life-long resident of Decatur County. He always loved telling jokes with family and friends. Mr. Willie Thomas (Jack) Spradlin passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, at his home in the Capel Community of Grady County. A memorial service in his honor will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the Church of Christ in Cairo, Georgia. Minister Art Wilson and Minister Harold King will be officiating. Willie Thomas (Jack) Spradlin was born July 12, 1935, in Moultrie, Georgia, to Thomas Carl and Eula Pearl Culpepper Spradlin. Mr. Spradlin served in the U. S. Army. He retired from Crown Zellerback Paper Company as a foreman in the Office Products Division. He was a member of the Cairo Church of Christ. He will be remembered as a good man, who loved people. He was always considerate of others. Jack is survived by his wife, Ruby E. Osborne Spradlin, and multiple step children. The family so appreciates the care given by Barbara Hatcher. Ida Mae Robinson was born June 9, 1953 in Donalsonville, Georgia, to Brantley and Thelma Boyette Robinson. She was proud to work as a nurse. Before her illness, she worked at Seminole County Hospital. Ida Mae loved doing crafts. She could take any junk and make something wonderful. She had a huge heart; always wiling to help. Her family says she didn't know the meaning of the word, NO.
Ida Mae Morrisett is survived by her husband, Jeff Morrisett; her daughter, Chasity Sapp and husband, Sammy; grandchildren, Ciara and Samantha Sapp; brother, Rodger Robinson and wife, Carla, all of Bainbridge; step-children, Emory Morrisett of Colquitt, Georgia and Timmy Morrisett, serving in the Coast Guard, stationed in South Carolina; nieces, Teresa Pippins and her children, Joshua, Austin, and Seth, and Lisa Morris and her children, Toby Alday and Megan Bettis; nephews, Tony Morris and wife, Ronda, and Curtis Robinson of McDonough, Georgia; and aunt, Evon Martin of Winter Haven, Florida.

Dr. Paul Jones and Rev. Carl Harrell will be officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Denise Renae Moore was born August 30, 1972 in Newport News, Virginia. Denise worked as a banking supervisor. She had a quick wit that she shared with the family she so loved. She loved photography and was always taking pictures of the family dog, Reese, and cat, Tom. Animals, in general, held a special place in her heart.
Denise is survived by her parents, Patricia and Robert Hinson of Cairo, Georgia; father, Winston Harold Moore of Lakeland, Florida; brothers, LaDon and wife, Debbie, Moore of Niceville, Florida, Michael and wife, Tammie, Hinson of Braselton, Georgia, Donald and wife, Lori, of Albany, Georgia; nieces and nephews, David Moore of Niceville, Florida, Lyndsey Richmond of Braseltown, Georgia, Ian Hinson of Albany, Georgia; a large, loving, extended family; and faithful companions, Reese and Tom.

Mr. William (Bill) N. Sorrell

Mr. WIlliam (Bill) N. Sorrell passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, at his home in Cairo, Georgia. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Eastside Baptist Church. Rev. Carl Harrell, Rev. Dr. Paul Jones, and Rev. Ken Sorrell will officiate. Mark Baggett, John Baggett, Eric Sorrell, Jesse Florida, John Goolsby, and George Rouse will serve as pallbearers. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. William (Bill) Nathan Sorrell was born March 12, 1931 to Cliett Rae and Willie Lee Kendricks Sorrell in Lanet, Alabama. He married Lugene Collins. They raised a family and remained at each other's side for 55 years. Bill Sorrell served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired, after 33 years, from Ford Motor Company. Bill was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church, the Keenagers group, Community II Sunday School Class and the Choir. He loved to fish, golf and sing. Bill Sorrell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family. Bill Sorrell is survived by his wife, Lugene Collins Sorrell of Cairo; sons and daughter-in-laws, Ken and Patti Sorrell of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Gary and Gail Sorrell of Cairo, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dick Winterboer of Rome, Georgia; grandchildren, Katie and husband, Jesse, Florida of Catonsville, Maryland, Eric Sorrell of Catonsville, Krystal Barrett and husband, Eric, of Cairo, Leacy DeAnn Singletary of Cairo, and R. Kathleen was born October 15, 1941 in Andarico, Oklahoma to Charles Preston and Clara Belle Hood Littrell. She was married to her sweetheart of 47 years, Robert Frank Webb, Jr.
Kathleen Webb is survived by her husband, Robert Frank Webb, Jr.; children, Dennis Baker and wife, Carolyn, of Haleyville, Alabama, Kenneth Webb and wife, Connie, of Bainbridge, Georgia, Jimmy Webb of Donalsonville, Georgia, and Katrina Lofton of Iron City; her sister, Patricia Harman of Bainbridge; 10 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Mr. Elmer Boyett passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011, at his home in Climax, Georgia. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church in Bainbridge. The Rev. Steve Poppell and the Rev. Brian Hatchett will officiate. Donald Boyett, Earl Boyett, Tommy Hughes, Greg Bates, Beau Boyett, Seth Boyett, Greg Powell, and Bobby Boyett will serve as pallbearers. The Loyal Soldiers Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be held in Butler Cemetery in Grady County, Georgia. Elmer Carlton Boyett was born January 31, 1931 in Decatur County, Georgia, to Leondies Washington and Varna Johnson Boyett. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Decatur County Road Department. Elmer was an avid Florida State University Football fan. He is survived by his sons: Carlton Boyett of Nashville, Georgia, and Darryl Boyett and wife, Erin, of Climax; grandchildren: Kristi Lamarca of Tifton, Georgia, Kevin Boyett of South Carolina, Beau Boyett of Bainbridge, and Seth Boyett of Macon; great grandchild: Abigail Boyett of Bainbridge; sisters: Flora Nell Hughes of Climax and Linnie Martin of Bainbridge; 6 nephews and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wendell Darren Bullington
June 5, 1970 - November 10, 2011
Mr. Wendell Darren Bullington passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011, at his residence. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011, graveside, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo, Georgia. The Rev. Dr. Paul Jones and Rev. Edward Green will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 795, Cairo, Georgia 39828. There will be no formal visitation but friends are welcome to come by the home of Pattie Bullington.
Wendell Darren Bullington was born June 5, 1970 in Cairo, Georgia, to Aaron and Pattie Prince Bullington. Darren spent his life in Grady County, Georgia. Darren was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and operated
D. & J. Spreader Service. A true Southern boy, he loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to ride motorcycles.
Darren Bullington is survived by his mother, Pattie Prince Bullington; sister, Dana Pritchett and husband, Rusty; nieces, Katie and Eryn Pritchett; grandparents, Wendell and Selma Prince, all of Cairo; former wife and friend, Cindy Bullington; step-children, Jamie Brooks and Courtney Brooks Tull; step-grandchild, Jaxon Tull; and a host of loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Bullington.

Glenn Askew
October 24, 1946 - October 27, 2011
Mr. Glenn Howard Askew passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. Services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia. Rev. Bruce McCracken and Rev. DeWitt Phillips will officiate. Lee Godwin, Casey Bellflower, Stacey Worthington, Tracy Phillips, Bradley Crutchfield and Cameron Crutchfield will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, at Cox Funeral Home.
Glenn Howard Askew was born October 24, 1946, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to Alfred Robert and Rosa Lee Wimberly Askew. He served for 36 years as a firefighter for the City of Bainbridge. For about 30 years, Glenn also worked laying carpet and he owned Askew Carpet Shop. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Hosey Askew; children: Ken Crutchfield and wife, Patty, of Hagerstown, Maryland, Doreen Crutchfield Wiseman and partner, Donnie Kendrick, of Bainbridge, Karen Crutchfield Crews and husband, Randy, of Bainbridge, Tim Crutchfield and wife, Lorelei, of Greer, South Carolina; sisters: Emory Phillips and husband, Gene, of Bainbridge, Mary Day and husband, Tommy, of Bainbridge, Alice Vann and husband, Terry, of Dahlonega, Georgia; grandchildren: Allison Crutchfield, Cameron Crutchfield, Bradley Crutchfield, Stacey Worthington, Brittany Bellflower and husband, Casey, Mindy Tomberlin and husband, Jeremy, Heather Crews, Derrick Crews, and Cole Crutchfield; great grandchildren: Madalyn Midget, Anabel Midget, Mayce Tomberlin, Jordan Tomberlin, Kaleb Crews and Makayli Crews.
The family wants to say a word of thanks to Tommy Day and Donnie Kendrick for all the assistance and care they have offered during the past year.
