Richard Eakin

Burial Date

“Funeral services for Richard Eakin, age 48 of Climax, GA, will be held Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Stanley Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Michael Birge, Pud Riley, Chad Whidner, Bill Pickeron, Gordon Renfro and Joey Tomberlin serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Cox – Ware Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Eakin was born in Decatur County the son of Jeanette Chason Eakin of Climax and the late Vanburen “Dick” Eakin. He has lived in Decatur County all of his life and owned and operated Eakin Tree Service. He was a member of the Georgia Game Bird Breeders Assoc., the United Game Bird Breeders Assoc and the Alabama Game Bird Breeders Assoc. He loved his family and enjoyed showing game fowl. He is survived by his wife of twenty two years Sherry Sholar Eakin of Climax; three daughters Kerry Lashea Eakin of Bainbridge and Shea Kashae Eakin and Heather Alys Eakin both of Climax; two sons Richard Brad Eakin and wife Kelly and Derrick Tray Eakin and wife Nicki both of Climax; ; ten grandchildren Christin and Heath Hooper, Travis and Danny Daniels, Ericka Johnson, Dakota, Marissa, Madison, Zachery and Chloe Eakin; mother-in-law Mary Ann Sholar of Climax; two sisters Debra King and husband Ricky of Donalsonville and Kay Clees and husband James of Bainbridge; three brothers Mark Eakin and wife Debra of Bainbridge and Earl Eakin and Joel Eakin and wife Nora both of Valdosta; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, four brothers Arthur, Steve, Dennis and Rodney Eakin, one niece Sonya McConnell and one grandchild Ryan Eakin.¿0a”
