She was a strong-willed, hard-working lady. Liz worked as a seamstress for Williamson- Dickies Manufacturing for 23 years and, then, Jack Winter Company. She drove a school bus for the Decatur County School System until her retirement. Mrs. Burris loved to work in her yard and to go fishing. She was, lovingly, given the title “Granny Boots”, due to her love of dancing. She could be caught dancing around the house with her walking cane. Elizabeth (Liz) Burris will be greatly missed by the family and many friends she loved so very much.

Elizabeth Atkinson Burris is survived by her children, Gail Hornsby (Ronnie), Patty Bernier (Tommy), Teresa Torres (Dennis), Alton Kent Burris, and Arlie E. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, newborn son, Larry Burris, sisters, Marjorie Rentz and Myrtle Bentley; and brother, Buddy Cloud.
