Vera Lee Dozier Hunter, age 89, of Cairo, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019. Services for Mrs. Hunter will be held at 2:00 pm., Thursday, February 28, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, Georgia. The Rev. Andrew Donaldson and Rev. Carl Harrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Norman Pyles, Jimmy Ausburn, Todd Gainous, Gene Lashley, Vernon Cook, and Josh Ausburn will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 pm.

Vera Lee Dozier Hunter was born March 28, 1929 in LaFeria, Texas. Her parents, Jannie Lucille Powe Dozier and Coss Lee Dozier, have preceded her in death. Vera worked as a data processor for W.B. Roddenbery Company. She was a dedicated member of Eastside Baptist Church. Vera had a servant’s heart. She was always willing to
drive someone to the doctor, work at church in any capacity, or share what she had. Vera loved her nieces and nephews dearly and considered them her own children.

Vera Hunter is survived by her nieces, Judy Cook and husband, Jimmy of Lake Seminole, Georgia, and JoAnn Holland of Sevierville, Tennessee; nephew, Charles Mangham and wife, Evelyn of Sumter, South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 749, Cairo, Georgia 39828.

The family will be gathering at the Donalson home, 265 Muggridge Lane, Cairo, Georgia.
